Kings Park is a hamlet on the North Shore of Long Island in the town of Smithtown. The area is known for its magnificent parks and unspoiled natural beauty. Kings Park is on the Nissequogue River and five miles of shoreline. Richard Bull Smith the founder of Smithtown descendants were the first European settlers to the area. The home of Obadiah Smith is still intact today who was the grandson of Richard. The hamlet was named after the state mental hospital Kings County Farm that was founded nearly 100 years ago. During the 60’s and 70’s Kings Park was revived into a young suburban community.

The Kings Park Central School District serves students in Kings Park with one intermediate school, 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. The area is family oriented with a wide array of family fun activities scattered throughout the community along with fine dining, shopping and various shops.

The most popular attraction is the Kings Park Heritage Museum offering exhibits of the water heritage including tools, photos, books, and family trees. Another famous historical landmark in Kings Park is the Sunken Meadow State Park with its own golf course, and facilities for a variety of outdoor activities including horseback riding.
